I have been back in Phuket for around a month now and although we are in the middle of low season the weather is beautiful. Not many tourists and a lot of the courses are empty. Last week i went to look at Mission Hills to see if there had been any improvement on the course, i was to be disappointed again!. Despite the spectacular clubhouse, impressive pro-shop and luxurious locker rooms the course remains a huge let down. Blue matting, broken pipes and weeds dominate the bunkers. The fairways resemble fields and the greens are a mixture of grasses including weeds making putting very difficult. In short, leave it alone and dont waste your money!.
The Sheraton Laguna closed its doors on 30th June and will be replaced by a new 4 star hotel called the Angsana which is part of the Banyan Tree group. A new property to look out for will be The Surin which has replaced The Chedi and it looks like it will be a great addition to the area.
I will be available most days at a new Sports Bar called The Players Retreat which is on the hill on the left hand side of the road just before you get to Patong. Golfers can book green fees, and there will be food available as well as drinks in the evening with many worldwide sports shown on the big screens. Pop in for a drink and a chat and hope to see you soon!!
