There are holes all over the world that can be classed as card wreckers so here are the top three golf courses in Phuket:

The 18th at Loch Palm

You may have played17 holes very well, but it can all come crashing down on this hole at Loch Palm Golf Club.  A 90 degree dog left with out of bounds all down the left and lake down the right leaves no margin for error. There are great views of the course as you walk along the hole but don’t let that distract you as your powers of concentration will be needed to get the ball on the green in regulation and make a good score. The very brave may have a go in two but the sensible way is a drive to the corner, a medium iron into position and then a short iron into the green.

The 18th at  Blue Canyon Lakes

An astounding, but very demanding finishing hole at the Blue Canyon Lakes Course.  The long par 4 needs a good drive and you need to choose the left or the right of the Canyon and tree in the middle of the fairway. The left side is the best route in as it gives you a downhill second shot into the green but the out of bounds is very close to the left side of the fairway. To drive right is the safer option but it leaves a downhill lie and a shot of over two hundred yards to a very narrow green protected by a water filled canyon.

The 10th at Phuket Country Club

Measuring 557 yards this very unusual hole at Phuket Country Club is a dog leg right round an enormous lake and believe it or not its actually reachable in one!. To achieve it you have aim 90 degrees right and carry the ball 240 yards over the water to an island green with out of bounds down right as well. The safe way is a three shotter around the water but whichever way you play it you never feel safe until the putt drops. I have seen two albatrosses made here and quite a few eagles but the most common result is a seven or an eight or perhaps a ripped up score card!
